Here are the questions we asked Abha Himani to know about her interview experience.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer: Hello, my name is Abha Himani, and I’m from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Having come from a small city, this journey has been a tough but an exciting one. I’m currently in my third year, pursuing B.E. in Computer Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. I’ve been interested in technology and exploring different fields in technology since my 1st year of college. Along with that, you can find me reading Shayaris and listening to Ghazals almost every alternate day in the library, haha.

Question 2: Describe Your written test experience specifying the number of rounds, details of each round, and type of test platform (online – amcat, hackerearth, etc / offline)

Answer: It was an online assessment test on the Hackerrank platform. There were 3 questions, and I had solved 2 of them completely; they were focused on DSA only. We just had to write the code of the function given.
Only one written round was conducted. After that, we had 3 more rounds. 2 Technical and 1 HR.

Question 3: Describe your all technical interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round (if any) (please share coding questions if possible)

Answer: There were 2 technical interviews, and 1 HR interview (within a time gap of 10-15 minutes each, the interviews lasted about 1 hour each):
In both the interviews, they asked questions related to DSA and OOPs concepts. Salesforce asks questions of DBMS and OS as well, but they didn’t ask me.
They provided me the hackerrank code pair link, and I was supposed to be present on the google meet as well. They asked me to share my screen and code along with that. I had to explain the approach of my code side by side. The key to this is to – Think Out Loud.

Interview 1:
2 DSA questions and discussion of the entire approach with a lot of cross-questioning (tell the other ways of doing this, why this approach? how to make this approach efficient, time complexity, space complexity)
Q1: Array question: index of first and last occurrence of the number which is being repeated. (Explained brute force approach and binary search algorithm to solve the question)
Q2: Related to finding the nth even and odd term of the Fibonacci Series

Interview 2:
2 DSA questions and one OOP-related question where I was given the code, and I was supposed to give the output.
1st was the Leetcode easy or medium question of Stack, and another was related to finding if there was a unique frequency in the array elements.
There was a question about OOPs to tell a code’s output. During that, I had to explain all the logic (about virtual functions to resolve ambiguity, classes, run time polymorphism, and inheritance). It checked my complete knowledge of Object Oriented Programming.
Both the interviewers were quite friendly. They supported me throughout. At starting itself, they made me comfortable with the environment, so it was a good start already!

Did Dynamic Programming from Aditya Verma. I had done striver’s sheet almost 2 times and a few more courses, including Sandeep Jain’s course of GFG, for a basic understanding of every data structure. Striver’s sheet is very important. All my 4 coding questions were more or less from the sheet itself. Do top 50 questions of CS fundamentals from Interview Bit.

Question 4: Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round

Answer: HR asked questions on every topic, including a lot of brainstorming and technical questions as well.
Strengths, Weaknesses, How do I cope up with my weaknesses? Where I am from? : I am from Ranchi, which is not a very developed place, so I explained the exposure I got after coming to Thapar and how it helped me improve.
Do you like working individually or in a group? So, I told him the pros and cons of both things.
He asked me about my projects which I’ve done in a group or individually. I had 2 deep learning projects and one project on Web development: What Deep Learning is? Difference between Deep Learning and Machine Learning. What does my project do?
One of the most important questions during the HR interview was, Why Salesforce?
It was a nice interview since HR was very supportive.

Question 5: What were the key factors for your selection?

Answer: I feel Confidence was the key factor because everyone who had reached that round knew DSA well, so what makes the difference is confidence and being true to yourself throughout.

Question 6: What are the things students should focus on in order of priority?

Answer: I believe focusing on DSA should be your number one priority. Along with that, you can give a bit of time to revising CS fundamentals such as DBMS, OOP, and OS. Keep practicing on leetcode and don’t change your plans according to what others are doing. Make a concrete plan and stick to it.

Question 7: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?

Answer: I wasn’t a part of any society, but I personally believe that one should join a society only if you have an actual interest in the work it stands for.

Question 8: Any Other Advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: I believe most of us are scared of reaching out to people and asking for help and guidance. There’s always someone who is ready to help you and guide you, you just have to reach out to them!

Question 9: How can we contact you? (LinkedIn Profile Link/Contact No./etc.)
