Ankush Singla’s ST Microelectronics Interview Experience

“Ankush Singla” who is interned at “ST Microelectronicstalks about his interview experience and some other tips to prepare for placement season. Check out what he says about the placement season.

His Interview was taken by UnsaidTalks Interviewer: “Hardik Garg”

Profile offered: Project Trainee

Branch and Graduation Year: ENC-2023

Job Location: Greater Noida

Cgpa Cutoff:6.0

Interview Difficulty Level:  I personally believe that it could be both a “1” or a “10” for you as my internship interview was totally based upon my “RESUME”. Even the questions which were asked were also on the basis of it so, if one has worked hard, made good projects and have proper knowledge about the subject then it is for sure a “1” otherwise it may be a “10” as well.

Here are the questions we asked Ankush Singla to know about his interview experience.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer: I, Ankush Singla, am a student of Electronics And Computer Engineering at Thapar Institute Of Engineering & Technology. I am very proud to say that I am currently the “Topper” of my branch that gave me a back in getting placed at Deloitte-USI. I am also selected as an intern at STM Microelectronics.

Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff ? If yes, then how much ?

Answer: No, it was not amongst the selection criteria and I personally believe that it is very helpful to those who have a bare minimum potential but they are unable to maintain the CGPA due to some or the other reasons so, without the CGPA burden, they can actually showcase the “skill” they have which I feel is more important than the CGPA.

Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)

Answer: The first and foremost criteria to get an internship at STM is that you must be having a very good “CV” i.e. you must have worked on some good projects, you must have appropriate information regarding the technologies used in the project, etc. and since I fulfilled this so, I was called for an interview in which I was again questioned on the basis of the “CV” so, if I were to sum up the procedure of getting interned at STM then, it would start and end to a good “CV”.

Question 4: Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

Answer: As it was an internship interview so no written/online test was conducted and I was selected purely on the basis of my “RESUME”, skills and knowledge about the subject.

Question 5: Tell us about Interview Round 1 including the questions that were asked.

Answer: Since I was having a good “RESUME” with me so, I was shortlisted for the interview and then it was more of a cakewalk for me as most of the questions asked in it was regarding my “RESUME” only. Some other basic questions were also asked like THE TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE PROJECTS, THE BASICS OF DIGITAL ANALOG, etc. but that was not at all a burden for me as I was crystal clear about anything and everything they asked and the basic criteria of selection was very strong in my case so, at the end of it, I was able to crack it.

Question 6: What were the key factors of your selection?

Answer: According to me, the things that matter the most for one’s selection are:-

1. SELF-CONFIDENCE

2. SKILLS/ SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE

3. FOCUS

4. PATIENCE

Question 7: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities, as well as participation in societies, play?

Answer: In my opinion societies, co-curricular activities, etc. are just either for fun sake or for one’s personality development as they give one a little exposure and help in building up one’s confidence but, if I talk about professional aspect then they have no effect as the placements are conducted purely on the basis of one’s skill-set.

Question 8: Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?

Answer: Before being selected for Deloitte, I also appeared for a company called “Bain” that provides opportunities in around 15-16 departments and when I was asked to fill the preferences for the departments, I took it lightly and filled them randomly and due to this I got a department which wasn’t my cup of tea which at last cost me the company. So, I would suggest others not to take anything lightly as even such small things could create big differences.

Question 9: What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?

Answer: The only advice which I would like to give is that there is no need to take any stress; if you have worked hard throughout your course; gained ample amount of skills which you are confident about and have cracked a descent internship then if you are at “Thapar”, YOU WILL SURELY GET PLACED!!

Question 10: Any other advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: The only advice/suggestion which I would like to give is that there is no need to take a lot of stress about anything and everything in the initial years; instead, one must enjoy the college life, try to explore as much as he/she can and try to work on skills side by side and at last try that you crack a good internship. Even if you do that, you will get success.

Question 11: How can we contact you? (LinkedIn Profile Link/Contact No./etc.)

Answer: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ankushsingla001/
