The 2nd was online test aptitude one, we were given 15 paragraphs and we need to find answers to the given questions, a few were probability-based, some were from statistics, and the last few were of logical thinking. In this process, 200 participants were shortlisted.
The 3rd one was a case study workshop, in this, they just explained the basics like the guesstimate and how to do a case study.
The 4th and 5th were interview rounds.
All this was conducted on google meet.

Question 4: Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round

Question 8: Any Other Advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: Focus on your communication, calculation, and logical skills. Like in guesstimate I was asked that there is a Starbucks coffee in Delhi, how much sale it makes per day? Then they asked me a question from geeksforgeeks which was, there is a 3-liter jar and a 5-liter jar, you have to convert it into a 4-liter jar. How will you do that? So, for questions like this, your calculation should be fast and accurate. Afterward, they asked me a behavior question that you have already a task to do and your boss came and gave you another task. How will you manage? So, for all this, your logical thinking should be good.

Prashasti Mittal’s Bain Interview Experience

“Prashasti Mittal who was interned at “Bain & Companytalks about her interview experience and some other tips to prepare for placement season. Check out what she says about the placement season.

Her Interview was taken by UnsaidTalks Interviewer: “Maitreyi”

Profile offered: Analyst

Job Location: Gurgaon

Branch and Graduation Year: ENC – 2022

Cgpa Cutoff: As such there was no CGPA cut-off declared by the company, however during the final rounds they put an internal cut of around 9-9.5.

Interview Difficulty Level: The difficulty level of the interview was around 6. According to me, this round was not that tough.

Here are the questions we asked Prashasti Mittal to know about her interview experience.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer: My name is Prashasti Mittal. I am a 4th year engineering student at Thapar University. I have been offered an analyst role in Bain and Company.

Question 2: Describe Your written test experience specifying the number of rounds, details of each round, and type of test platform (online – amcat, hackerearth, etc / offline)

Answer: There was one test round which was one of the most difficult tests I have given till date. There were around 20 questions that were to be done in 30 minutes and on top of this there was negative marking also so guesswork was totally not an option. The questions were based on case studies and guesstimates. The platform for the test was HirePro.

Question 3: Describe your all technical interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round (if any) (please share coding questions if possible)

Answer: Since the company was non-tech there was no “technical” interview. There was one online test and 2 HR rounds.

Question 4: Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round

Answer: There were 2 HR rounds which were easy. There were basic questions like why do you want to join our company. One important thing I would like to mention is that if you mention anything in your CV, give proof for it. For example, if you say I am good at teamwork tell them what you did that makes you believe you are good at teamwork.

Question 5: What were the key factors for your selection?

Answer: I think the key factor was that I knew Tableau which was an added advantage and secondly since I had zero expectation that I would make it so I was not scared at all during the interview and this became fruitful for me.

Question 6: What are the things students should focus on in order of priority?

Answer: Since the company was non-tech so coding/technical skills are not that important here. The priority list should be :
1. Logical Reasoning
2. Internships – It does not matter whether the internship is virtual or not, unpaid/paid. They just want to check whether you have already worked with a team in past
3. Projects – They want to see whether you have utilized your time or not.
4. Be a part of societies since they help you with a lot of skills like communication, teamwork, leadership, etc.

Question 7: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?

Answer: These activities play a very crucial role according to me because the companies do not want students who just mug up things. Companies prefer students who are all-rounders and for becoming an all arounder you need to focus on extra-curricular activities as well.

Question 8: Any Other Advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: I would just like to suggest my juniors to be patient during placements. I know it’s a hectic process but being patient will help you see things clearly.

Question 9: How can we contact you? (LinkedIn Profile Link/Contact No./etc.)

Answer: pmittal1_be18@thapar.edu
