Here are the questions we asked Divyansh Purohit to know about his interview experience.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer:  My name is Divyansh Purohit. I’m a fourth-year student here at Thapar University studying computer engineering. As you know, I’ve been placed in Signify. I have been on the waitlist for Oracle and Blackrock. To be on the safe side, I have kept one on-campus company; now I am aiming for off-campus companies. I am a full-stack web developer with extensive experience in React.js. I have a minor specialisation in data science.

Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff ? If yes, then how much ?

Answer: N/A

Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)

Answer: 1 technical test (20 MCQs and 2 coding questions) 3 interviews in which first was technical interview (30 mins), followed by a managerial interview(30 mins) and a HR interview(10 mins).

Question 4: Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

Answer: The online test(aptitude test) consisted of 20 MCQs and 2 coding questions. The test platform was “SHL”.(it was company provided test platform) one of the coding questions was from LCS (Longest Common Subsequence).

Question 5: Tell us about Interview Round 1 including the questions that were asked.

Answer: The first interview was a technical interview. The following questions were asked of me : What is data? What is the difference between authentication and authorization, and how do you implement them? questions related to how to secure data. questions from my project.

Question 6: Tell us about Interview Round 2.

Answer: The second interview was a managerial interview. There were situation-based questions like, “If one of your colleagues is not doing his or her work properly, then what will be your take on this issue?” The interviewers consistently asked me to think outside the box and answer the questions. Then they asked me, “Why is the culture of working from home not good?” What are the advantages of an offline office work culture?

Question 7: Tell us about the HR interviews(if any) specifying the number of rounds and questions asked.

Answer: The HR interview lasted for 10 minutes. They questioned me about my preferred job location, whether Bangalore was a decent location, and how my day had gone. They questioned my friendships in Bangalore. A few of my friends who participated in the interview also had questions concerning their family background.

Question 9: What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?

Answer: In order to avoid being eliminated during the initial shortlisting process, speak to seniors about your desired firms and profile and maintain a decent CGPA and profile in accordance. enjoy your college life. It won’t hurt you to strive to keep your CG at or above 9, though.

Question 10: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities, as well as participation in societies, play?

Answer: Extracurricular activities, as well as participation in societies, are important to some extent but from a tech-interview point of view, they don’t matter that much. Participation in societies is really helpful for non-tech companies.

Question 11: Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?

Answer: Before signify, I had interviews with Caastle, Oracle, Make My Trip, and Blackrock. I’ve been on the Oracle (three interview rounds cleared) and Blackrock waitlists (2 interview rounds cleared).Because I had been to so many interviews, I found the signify interview to be relatively simple.

Question 12: What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?

Answer: Prepare well with standard interview questions. Do consistent coding if you are aiming for a tech company. Saying things like, “I’ll only apply for this company and won’t try other interviews” or “I’ll only sit for this company” is not a good idea, in my opinion. Prior to attempting to secure an off-campus company, try to secure an on-campus one.

Question 13: Any other advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: One thing I would advise my juniors to do is to go through the gfg puzzles website because quite a few companies ask for puzzles, some of which are so challenging that you couldn’t possibly solve them there if you weren’t familiar with those types of questions.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer: Mridhu is a final year student of Thapar University pursuing BE in computer Science and engineering, who recently got placed at Signify as a Software developer. She specializes in Django and bootstrap and has contributed to Designing of the front end of the website for a wastewater Treatment Company situated in Mohali, Punjab.

Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff ? If yes, then how much ?

Answer: Yes, 7 CG to be eligible to fill the OA form.

Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)

Answer: Firstly there was an internal CG cut to sit for the online coding exam. After that, there were three rounds of interviews of approximately 10 -15 minutes. First, Technical, followed by two HR interview rounds.

Answer: In the online exam, there were 2 coding questions based on C and Java. Followed by a section on MCQs in logical Reasoning and aptitude.

Answer: The first round was a Technical round that included Questions that were mainly based on C fundamentals and followed by a discussion on projects in the resume.

Answer: The Second and third Rounds of the process were HR rounds. They included a discussion on topics from preplacement talks, Questions like “Where do you see yourself in Five Years”,” Apart From academics, What is one moment from your life you are very proud of?”, Plans for Higher Studies, Plans to adjust to Bangalore.

Answer: Core Fundamentals, Good Communication skills, Preplacement talks.

Question 8: What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?

Answer: Talk to your family and friends, it will help you relax.

Answer:1. Develop Good Communication Skills and practice HR Questions Before Hand.

Answer:Currently in 4th year,studying in Computer engineering branch, got placed

Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff ? If yes, then how much ?

Answer:Female- 7.5 Male-8.5.

Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)

Answer: There were four rounds.First round was online assessment round Second one was technical+HR round (leaning towards HR round) Third and fourth one were HR rounds Shortlisting criteria- don’t go down in rabbit hole just basic concepts of DSA,OOPS,DBMS,CN, being confident.

Question 4: Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

Answer:Had two parts- Aptitude round consisted of Aptitude questions,was relatively easy,can be cracked with online question practice as concepts were from 11th and 12th grade. Coding one had basic C and Java questions,just syntaxes but C was tougher than Java ,navigation was off while testing,strong basics of DSA are important so for that practice well on leetcode and geeksforgeeks etc platforms. Code questions:- Reverse an array,print numbers with gap of 3,print date and time in c++ Theory :- real time example of inheritance, function overloading, difference between multiple and multilevel inheritance, what are inner and outer joins and the difference between them.

Question 5: Tell us about Interview Round 1 including the questions that were asked.

Answer: This round was technical+HR which included a few technical questions like basic OOPs,DBMS,DSA , discussion about projects worked on, situational questions on how to handle social situations of disagreement between colleagues etc

Question 6: Tell us about Interview Round 2.

Answer:Purely HR round which lasted for half an hour, which was more of an interactive session, about projects and background.

Answer: Lasted just 10 minutes, asking about how comfortable you are with location, just general personal questions, being honest was important

Question 8: What were the key factors of your selection?

Answer:

1. Basic and in-depth knowledge of CN, OOPs,DBMS, OS, DSA by heart.

2. Concepts studied in curriculum to be well versed with.

3. Maintain CGPA above 8.5 atleast.

Question 9: What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?

Answer:Maintain CGPA>8.5-concepts-technical skills-soft skills-additional skills according to your liking.

Question 10: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities, as well as participation in societies, play?

Answer:Societies don’t play that much of a role for technical role especially, helps in boosting confidence though ,was in Frosh , helped in eradicating stage fear , projects and skillset important.

Question 11: Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?

Answer:Got rejected in one company Cloud Era, others had tough test so wasn’t cleared, friends supported a lot in coping, seniors guided throughout. Reasons- 1. Under confidence and stress on face. 2. Some basic concepts weren’t clear. 3. Stuttered and didn’t respond well to recruiters.

Question 12: What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?

Answer: At the end you have to deal with the feeling not being good enough, too much stress, so please be patient because everybody gets placed eventually, enjoy and take a break while preparing.

Question 13: Any other advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: Practice, practice and practice as much on online platforms like leetcode and geeksforgeeks for technical skills. Work on your confidence. Start atleast 6-8 months ( prefer 1 year) for preparation. For non tech , prepare case studies and guesstimate. Focus on subjects in curriculum and maintain a good CGPA(>=8.5)

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer:I am a a final-year computer science student from Faridabad, Haryana. I am interested in software development and machine learning applications. Apart from academics, I love singing.

Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff ? If yes, then how much ?

Answer:Yes, but each branch had a different cutoff.

Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)

Answer: There was a coding test and two interviews, followed by a HR interview.

Question 4: Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

Answer:The coding test took between 60 and 90 minutes to complete and included 2 code problems in addition to MCQs. There were also some logical aptitude questions in it.

Question 5: Tell us about Interview Round 1 including the questions that were asked.

Answer:I was judged based on my resume. My projects, which were included in my resume, were briefly discussed. Additionally, there were some straightforward technical inquiries based on fundamental computer concepts like OOPS, operating systems, and data structures.

Answer: He was questioned on his resume, fundamental concepts like OOPS, OS, etc., and some quite fundamental Java topics in this round as well.

Question 7: Tell us about the HR interviews(if any) specifying the number of rounds and questions asked.

Answer: I was asked questions like :- 1. Are you a good fit for the company ? 2.Tell us about yourself ? 3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Question 8: What were the key factors of your selection?

Answer: The fundamentals of computing, such as OS, DS, and DBMS, were a key factor. Another factor was including unique projects in resume was helpful. They are significant since they increase interviewer interest, and because you worked on projects, it is simple to respond to these questions. These questions have clear answers that are simple to give.

Question 9: What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?

Answer: Focus should be placed on fundamental concepts (OS and DBMS), and you should be well-versed in DSA to pass coding rounds. Projects are something else to pay attention to. The ability to communicate well is another because you will be expected to do so throughout interviews.

Answer:Extracurricular involvement increases your effect in front of the interviewer. Additionally, it enhances your personality. It has a really positive effect when you speak to the interviewer about your social activism.

Answer:Yes, I was turned down for the JPMC internship program.

Answer: Do not take too much stress. Being from a prestigious university, you will get good opportunities, hence work hard for it. Take breaks and enjoy your time in college with your friends. Believe in yourself and keep trying.

Answer: College life is important, therefore while working hard in your studies, don’t neglect to have fun. Participate in societies, hackathons, and other extracurricular activities. Your health can also be harmed by solely concentrating on your studies. Make some quality projects for your bachelor’s degree; it will be very beneficial.

Answer: Yes there was an internal CGPA cutoff that was different for both boys and girls, for Boys it was 8.8 and for girls it was 7.4

Answer: 1. There a internal CGPA cutoff on basis of which the shortlisting took place. 2. Then there was an online coding test . 3. There were total 3 interview rounds (including HR interview also)

Answer:1. There was an online test . 2. Test consist of two type of questions concept MCQ’s and problem based . 3. There were two problem based questions in which they had given 45 times to solve .

Answer: in the first round of interview questions were asked on the basics of OOPS, DSA ,LOOPS etc some questions were: 1. What is difference between Polymorphism and Abstraction. 2. What is difference between for loop and nested loop . 3. Difference between class and structure . etc

Answer: In the second round of interview the were focusing on communication skills. This round almost depends upon how you manage things and your attitude towards your work .

Answer:In the third round some HR interview questions were also covered . Many situation based questions were given and your communication skills were tested . this whole round depends upon situation solving and tuning with the interviewer.

Question 9: What were the key factors of your selection?

Answer: Key factor of the selection was having the basics knowledge in the technical part and good communication skills . Tuning with the interviewer also played important role in selection .

Question 10 What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?

Answer: On the daily basis student should focus on their problem solving skills ,they should master the way to implement logic in the provided problems . Apart from that they should also participate in different events to enhance their communication skills.

Question 11: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities, as well as participation in societies, play?

Answer: Yes societies play important role in building your technical skills (if it is a technical society) and not only this they also play role in building up your communication skills.

Question 12: Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?

Answer:yes there were two companies from which i got rejected (ORACLE and SELIGO). for both the companies reason of rejection was the same i.e. lack of communication skills . As i was more focused on my studies i didn’t took part in events and fests due to which i was not good in communication . So even after cracking the online tests just because not good enough in communication I got rejected .

Answer: I would like to advice that there is no need to study whole day, try to explore different things, get experience, take part in different events, develop communication skills, but focus on grades to.
