Here are the questions we asked from Dhruv Garg to know about his interview experience.
Question 1:Introduce yourself to our readers.
Answer: This is the most difficult question in the entire form but i m gonna answer it as i did in the interview – ” Hello sir, I am dhruv and i belong to Delhi. I have always been curious by nature and like to learn new things. I started developing interest in technology and then i opted CS in thapar. I really like to apply my knowledge on real world scenario. That’s it and i would be glad to tell you anything if you wanna know.”
Question 2:Describe Your written test experience specifying number of rounds ,details of each round and type of test platform(online -amcat,hackerearth etc offline)
Answer: The written test was on hackerearth platform and there were technical aptitude MCQs and 2 coding questions. One was moderate and other one was difficult according to me.General coding prep will do.
Question 3:Describe your all technical interviews specifying number of rounds and details of each round (if any)(please share coding questions if possible)
Answer: There were 3 technical rounds and all the interviewers were very friendly !
1. First round – He introduced himself and asked me to introduce myself. Then he asked about one of my project listed in my resume which was related to DBMS. Then he asked me a question about indexing, hashing and drew a table and asked me to index it. Then he asked a puzzle ( a solid cube which was black from outside is divided into 125 equal cubes, then find the total number of cubes with exactly 2 faces black). I tried it for sometime and did it step by step. He provided me hints in between. The only main thing in that interview was grabbing the hints properly.
Second round- It was a subjective coding round. He asked me to write the code for least common ancestor of the tree. Then he gave me some test cases and asked me to dry run them. Then He asked me to optimise it for bst and gave some more test cases. Then he asked me to optimise it further and that’s it.
Third round- It was the final tech round and it was with the seniormost person from the team. He was the director for some technical division at Walmart Labs. He asked me about all the projects listed in my resume for atleast half an hour. Then he asked about my programming language preference which was java. Then he asked me some questions about oops concepts of java. Then he gave me a puzzle which i did correctly. Then he asked me about myself and about my plans related to higher studies.
Question 4:Describe your all HR interviews specifying number of rounds and details of each round
Answer: There was one HR round and he asked some cliche questions like describe yourself, where do you see yourself in 5 years, higher study plans and i had any problem in relocation and all that. The guy was very friendly and that was just like some casual conversation.
Question 5:Key factors for your selection
Answer: I did very basic things but I did them very thoroughly, Confidence and qismat.
Question 6:Advice to juniors for technical skills they should develop
Answer: Data structures and algorithms, dynamic programming, oops concepts, any one language from c++ or java very thoroughly and some famous puzzles. Company specific preperation also helps a lot. Some subjects to prepare are – DBMS, OS,Computer Networks.
Question 7:Advice to juniors for cracking HR round
Answer: Prepare Just basic Hr questions and gain confidence either by writing answers or practicing in front of mirror and it’s very well if you have it already 🙂
Question 8:Which are the subjects one should have a thorough knowledge about, to gain an edge over other students (specific to your branch)?
Answer: Data structures and algorithms, DBMS,OS , Computer Networks in the order of importance according to me.
Question 9:What are your best Achievements?
Answer: Except on academic front, nothing much in college. I think having intern at walmart labs would be it :p But I had done debates and declamations in school at state level.
Question 10:Any co-curricular activities (that you were a part of) that you think are worth mentioning?
Answer: Just debates and speech competions in school. Nothing much in college.
