Profile offered: Software Trainee Engineer

Job Location: Chandigarh

Branch and Graduation Year: COE – 2022

Cgpa Cutoff: 7.5

Interview Difficulty Level: There were two rounds. In the first round I would rate the difficulty as 7-8 and second round I would rate it as 9-10. (1-very easy, 10-very difficult)

Here are the questions we asked Gourav Aggarwal to know about his interview experience.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer: Hello everyone, my name is Gourav Aggarwal. I am currently a fourth-year student of the COE branch at Thapar Institute. I recently got placed at Ascentx company as a Software Developer.

Question 2: Describe Your written test experience specifying the number of rounds, details of each round, and type of test platform (online – amcat, hackerearth, etc / offline)

Answer: The test had two sections one was coding and the other was aptitude. The aptitude section included logical questions and basic questions from OS, DBMS. There were 3 to 4 coding questions based on DSA. The DSA questions were not standard DSA questions.

Question 3: Describe your all technical interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round (if any) (please share coding questions if possible)

Answer: They asked me about the Tower of Hanoi problem. They also asked me about OOPS concepts. They asked for definitions of polymorphism, inheritance, and encapsulation. Queries were asked from DBMS. At the last, they asked me for a puzzle of two bottles. The second round was a bit difficult. They asked me DBMS questions. They asked me in how many ways we can find out the factorial of a number.

Question 4: Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round

Answer: The HR asked about my family background and about my plans for higher studies.

Question 5: What were the key factors for your selection?

Answer: 1. I knew about OOPS concepts.
2. I knew DBMS queries.
3. Good puzzle-solving and aptitude skills.

Question 6: What are the things students should focus on in order of priority?

Answer: If you know Java it would be an advantage. Have knowledge about OOPS, OS and DBMS. Have knowledge about aptitude and logical reasoning.

Question 7: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?

Answer: I have not participated in societies. Leadership and communications skills enhance if you are part of societies. You can also add them in resume so your resume becomes impressive.

Question 8: Any Other Advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: Don’t take much pressure about placements. It’s not necessary that you should know all languages just be perfect in one language. Be perfect in one skill like web development or machine learning.
