Cgpa Cutoff: Initially the cut-off was 6 but when a lot of students qualified then the cut-off was raised to 8.45.
Interview Difficulty Level: The difficulty level was around 7-8. (1-very easy, 10-very difficult)
Here are the questions we asked Varun Agarwal to know about his interview experience.
Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.
Answer: Hello! My name is Varun Agarwal. I am currently in my 4th year in TIET and I was placed in MakeMyTrip during on-campus placements in TIET.
Question 2: Describe Your written test experience specifying the number of rounds, details of each round, and type of test platform (online – amcat, hackerearth, etc / offline)
Answer: There was 1 written test round on HackerRank. The questions were completely technical. The topics were CN, OOPS, OS, DBMS, and general C++ output questions. There were 25 MCQs and 2 coding questions. The MCQ questions were mostly from DBMS. One coding question was based on a variant of merge sort.
Question 3: Describe your all technical interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round (if any) (please share coding questions if possible)
Answer: There were 2 technical interview rounds. It was on HackerEarth. Firstly I introduced myself then I was asked questions from topics like OOPS, Normalisation in DA, Binary Array. She helped me during my interview to optimize my approach.
The 2nd round of interview was on Zoom. I was asked questions about Data Structures entirely.
Question 4: Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round
Answer: The HR round was telephonic. I was asked questions related to my family then about my strengths and weaknesses.
Question 5: What were the key factors for your selection?
Answer: It was mostly the preparation and the failed interviews. I found my weaknesses and prepared accordingly. The confidence during the interview matters and also the answers should be to the point.
Question 6: What are the things students should focus on in order of priority?
Answer: Do not focus too much on your resume. Firstly improve your knowledge in subjects like CN, OS, and DBMS. They will not judge you on your resume but on questions asked that day. Aptitude questions are also important.
Just focus on core subjects.
Question 7: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?
Answer: They enhance your confidence and communication skills. They help you face the interviewer. They are important only for the interviews.
Giving mock interviews will also serve the same purpose.
Question 8: Any Other Advice you would like to give to your juniors?
Answer: Do not worry if you do not get internships. You have to go deep in core subjects and practice coding regularly.
