Here are the questions we asked Verain Sardana to know about his interview experience.

Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.

Answer:I am Verain Sardana, a fourth-year student, and my branch is Computer Science and Engineering Patiala Campus(COPC).

Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff ? If yes, then how much ?

Answer:Yes, there was a CGPA cutoff that was 8.0.

Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)

Answer:First of all there was coding test and then there was virtual interview.At last,there was one hackathon where mentor took brief interview.

Question 4: Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

Answer: The online test was fundamental and was entirely based on DSA.I completed the test in 15 minutes.

Question 5: Tell us about Interview Round 1 including the questions that were asked.

Answer:The interview round one was a virtual interview. Only Two questions were asked, and one was about where you see yourself in the next five years. The second one I do not remember.

Question 6: Tell us about Interview Round 2.

Answer:The second round included Hackathon in which a group of eight people had to make a website including both front end and back end in a day.I was working on back end and it worked perfectly.

Question 7: Tell us about the HR interviews (if any) specifying the number of rounds and questions asked.

Answer: Virtual Interview(Interview round one) was a HR round.

Question 8: What were the key factors of your selection?

Answer:The critical factors of my selection were especially my contribution to the project given in the Hackathon,as the website’s back end was working compleyely fine, and I was one of the team members working on the back end.The front end of the website was not working fine,so not one member of the front end was selected.

Question 9: What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?

Answer:First,they should learn C<C++ and then python.Then they should do DSA, and after they can explore their other interests like ML,Web Development and App Development.

Question 10: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities, as well as participation in societies, play?

Answer:The extracurricular activities contribute significantly less, but if two candidates have the same marks on the coding test, the person with extracurricular activities is prioritized.

Question 11: Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?

Answer: I did not get rejected, as, during a coding test, I used python, which has a little more runtime than C and C++, so I could not pass some of the test cases.

Question 12: What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?

Answer: Do not lose their confidence and get discouraged after rejections. Just have belief in your preparation and keep working hard.

Question 13: Any other advice you would like to give to your juniors?

Answer: Maintain a decent CGPA of 8.5 and keep a balance between coding and extracurricular activities. In the third year, do not apply to bad companies for an internship so that if you get PPO from them, you will not be able to sit in on-campus placements.
