Here are the questions we asked Yashika Gupta to know about her interview experience.
Question 1: Introduce yourself to our readers.
Answer: Hello, I’m Yashika Gupta. I’m currently in 4th year pursuing B.E. in Computer Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. I received a PPO from Optum after doing summer internship in 2022 there. I’ve got a 6 months internship offer from HashedIn.
Question 2: Was there any internal CGPA cutoff? If yes, then how much?
Answer: The CGPA cutoff was around 7.
Question 3: What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria/ coding or aptitude test/ number of interviews)
Answer: There were three rounds, and all of them were conducted in online mode. The first round was a coding test. The second round was a technical interview. The third round was HR interview.
Question 4: Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)
Answer: The coding test was of duration 1hr 45 minutes and had 3 questions based on DSA. One question was easy, and the other two were a bit difficult. The questions were based on topics like strings, graphs and dynamic programming.
Question 5: Tell us about Interview Round 1 including the questions that were asked.
Answer: In the technical interview round, theoretical questions from topics like DBMS and operating systems. Also, two technical questions were asked for which we had to give an optimized solution. They asked the time complexities of the solutions. Since, it was conducted in online mode, the questions were given in a doc file and the code was to be implemented using online compiler. It is better to discuss your thought process with interviewer regarding the problem. In this way, they can help you if you stuck and analyse you better.
Question 6: Tell us about the HR interviews(if any) specifying the number of rounds and questions asked.
Answer: It was of 15 minutes duration. It was a usual HR interview and was quite easy.
Question 7: What were the key factors of your selection?
Answer: I started practising DSA question since second year. Also, I regularly revised the concepts of DBMS, OS, CN.
Question 8: What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?
Answer: Practice DS, stay in touch with OS, CN and DBMS.
Question 9: According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?
Answer: Extracurricular activities help you learn working in teams, balance work with other activities in life.
Question 10: Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?
Answer: I got rejected from Tartanq after the HR round. I think the reason of rejection was a question which I couldn’t answer properly.
Question 11: What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?
Answer: Be patient. Don’t lose hope. Always give your best. You will get what you deserve.
